Vintage Pug Mamma is the creative studio of Australian surface pattern designer and illustrator Simone Kelly.
Inspired by nature, wildlife, travel, photography, treasured memories and vintage design movements, VPM turns the details worth noticing into original patterns and illustrations for wallpaper, textiles, interiors, lifestyle products and fine art.
🌿 What Inspires VPM
Memories: Family, friends and meaningful moments often become the emotional thread behind a collection.
Travel: From African wildlife and landscapes to Balinese gardens, places experienced and photographed over the years continue to inspire motifs, stories and colour palettes.
Nature: Birds, botanicals, marine life and wildlife provide an endless source of unexpected shapes, movement and personality.
Vintage Influence: Art Nouveau, Art Deco and other vintage aesthetics weave through the portfolio, reimagined with a contemporary VPM twist.
✍️ From Inspiration to Pattern
Original photography, observation, sketching and digital illustration all contribute to the VPM visual language. Motifs are hand-drawn digitally and developed into coordinated collections using Procreate and Adobe Illustrator.
The result ranges from intricate hero prints to playful coordinates and standalone illustrations, with plenty of details to discover along the way.
And naturally, finished designs remain subject to inspection by two highly opinionated pug assistants. 🐾
